Pizza from Cheeseboard on Shattuck. Delicious, and right down the street.
This place is pure Berkeley! Bands play while people come together at the giant tables. The line’s usually out the door, which is quite a feat because they only offer one type of pizza and salad a day and close once it runs out.
The energy here is amazing. Great customer service because it’s a co-op and worker owned, so everyone really cares. Kids run around playing and people are actually talking to their neighbors.
The perfect end to a sunny day is sitting on the grass outside of this place, eating some pizza, and enjoying the people watching (or sitting inside and listening to the band and drinking!) Today’s concoction was roma tomatoes, onions, mozz, asiago, garlic olive oil, and herbs… and I was totally tempted to go for a second slice, but held back and went in search of sweet tea vodka instead.
